It was a last minute decision this year. To head south again. An EV roadtrip to the mountains in northern Italy, to take in some wineries, eat good food, spend a couple of warm evenings on Bolzano’s Piazza Walther with a cold drink, looking at the mountains and watching the tourists pass by.
Took the bridge from Malmö to Copenhagen, then the motorway down to Gedser and the ferry to Rostock. It rained all the way and we pushed through a constant mist until we passed Copenhagen. In Gedser it was hot as we queued to leave Scandinavia, and the ferry was crowded with summer weather-sceptic Danes, Norwegians and Swedes heading for some guaranteed heat on the European continent.
Traveling with an EV is quiet and vibration-free, but it requires some planning and a few more, and slightly longer stops than with a combustion engined car. It works really well though. The navigation system guides us to the charging spots, and we never had to wait to charge even once. The only real issue is that you don’t know what the price is until after you’ve charged, and it can vary a lot!
Cooper brought his passport and traveled with us. The regular charging stops are perfect for him to get out, sniff around, and leave his pheromones for other traveling dogs.
