An end of November treat – spa weekend at Vann Spa Hotel in Bohuslän. A birthday present to Anna. Warm baths, sauna, massage, good food and exotic drinks. A weekend of indulgence and relaxation.
Outside the sky is thick and grey, the temperature hovers around 5°C, and rain that just hangs in the air. That’s how it’s been for the past forever it seems. Even so we took a drive down to Lysekil, the coastal town where Gullmarsfjorden meets Skagerak and the North Sea. The coast from Lysekil and north are famous for their red granite rocks. They have been quarried to build cities for hundreds of years.
We drive out to Stångehuvuds Nature Reserve and brave the wind and rain to take a walk out to where the ocean waves break on the rocks. For a moment the skies open and the sun breaks through. Reluctantly at first, throwing beams of light down on the frothy ocean, then more confidently making the red granite glow like it’s on fire. Our timing is perfect. The skies close up again as we walk back to the car, drive into the center, and find a café for a coffee and cakes before heading back to the hotel and more saunas and wam baths.
