2025 Summer road trip – Day 8

Consulted ChatGTP for some interesting destinations on the way to Rostock. It suggested Coburg via Regensburg and avoiding the autobahn for a more pleasant drive. 550 km is a long drive on small roads, however pleasant, so in the end we ended up om the autobahn anyhow.

We passed through Regensburg and the Dackelmuseum just before closing time, a museum dedicated to Dachshunds, like Siri and Hagge. Regensburg was in a festive mood and the biergarten by the river was crowded with drinking and singing in full swin. We didn’t stay, we needed to get to Coburg before the hotel closed for the night.

We got to the hotel in time to get our room. It was hot, and the room was in the attic so it was stinking hot. Opening the window and placing a fan in the opening didn’t make a lot of difference. We took a walk to the city center to see if we could get a drink. German towns seem to die after 9 pm. Everything was closed except a biergarten in the center of town. We bought a couple of Limoncello Spritz and sat there until it got dark and then walked back to the hotel. Pretty unexciting. Didn’t really see anything of Coburg, hence no pictures (the ones below are from Regensburg).
