After 22 years in a big house in Backa on the eastern edge of the island of Hisingen we moved our stuff to an apartment in Sannegården on the northern shore of Göta Älv. This used to be the shipbuilding center of the world until it was outcompeted by shipbuilders in Asia over 50 years ago.
Apartment buildings have grown like mushrooms here in the past 10 years giving the area a new lease of life. Some original buildings from the old days are preserved on top of Slottsberget, a high granite outcrop just behind our new home. Its fishing village feel is is a nice contrast to the hasty modern architecture below. I think we are going to like it here.
