Two weeks in Greensboro with Volvo and I have a weekend to do some sight-seeing. I decide to go west, to the Appalachian Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I begin with the waterfalls in the Dupont State Forest before turning on to the Parkway just south of Asheville.
It’s a beautiful sunny day to begin with but the further north east I go the bigger the rain clouds. The air is humid and rays of sun light beam out from behind the clouds. Near Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in the Appalachians, curtains of rain drift over the valleys and across the ridges making for some spectacular scenery.
